SELF is a group of students who have made a commitment to themselves and their neighbors not to let the effects of alcohol and other drugs (including tobacco, starting Fall, 1998) influence their lives. SELF was created in the early 1990s to support this choice and provide a comfortable atmosphere, allowing for personal growth. It is this common bond that unites students, making it easy to form friendships and express individuality. The residents are encouraged to become active members of their community. It's a vibrant, coed community of 120 residents that doesn't look any different than other halls--you'll find the same social, educational, and recreational programming you'll find everywhere at UNH. Students attend these activities and they share their talents and knowledge by sponsoring their own theme-related events and outreach programs as well.
